about

My work involves ideas from many disciplines such as sculpture, electronic arts, and linguistic theories. At the core is my eagerness to peel away the layers of human communication. Using materials, symbols, and situations that reference ways we communicate I question how we interpret the distortion that inevitably happens through transmission.

Erin Hoffman is an interdisciplinary artist that primarily uses glass as her formal and conceptual inspiration. Originally from Allentown, PA, she attended Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia (2015) and graduated with her BFA in glass. She then moved to Louisville, KY where she worked as the Departmental Assistant at the University of Louisville glass department (2015-2018). Hoffman received her MFA in Sculpture and Dimensional Studies at Alfred University in New York (2020). Hoffman is now based in the Bay Area of Northern California.
